Island Dance is her ‘baby’, and she’s as proud as every other mother! Having arrived in HK in 1993, Anne-Marie registered this fledgling idea of ‘a few classes’ just 6 weeks after landing for the 1st time ever in Asia. Highly qualified and totally dedicated to each and every adult/child’s joy of dance, dancing has been her life. From being voted ‘Best Dancer’ at the local dance school held in a church hall in Lancashire to performing for 15,000 people and 20 TV stations live as undefeated British Champions in the World Latin American Formation Championships several consecutive years (best placed 7th). Anne-Marie holds the only Fellowship Disco Freestyle Jazz in Asia. She’s appeared in a two-page spread in UK Vogue ... (the one with Princess Diana on the front in black & white … they shared the same photographer, Terence Donovan). She was also invited to dance with HK’s Last Governor Mr. Chris Patten on the weekend of the Handover at a private party on the Peak! Anne-Marie not only knows her stuff - she knows how to strut it too!!

Miss Melissa – Our Resident Celeb! Melissa thrives with an audience, and we are watching! A popular, talented, creative performer and choreographer, she has danced alongside some of the world’s leading singing superstars countless times in HK & her hometown Melbourne. Since leaving Kiss FM Radio station and hosting her own Children’s TV show in Australia, she arrived in typical style with a glamorous whirlwind in 1999. Melissa’s ‘stage’ can just as happily be a classroom with an audience of 20 enthralled 5 year olds. No one is more passionate about teaching others than this Christmas Eve born babe.

Miss Claire has an infectious & quick sense of humour; when you meet her you will not think she’s legally entitled to drive a car, let alone be living here and married to Rob for more than a decade with a gorgeous little girl! Miss Claire is a real ‘Angelina Ballerina’, trained and qualified in Teaching and Performance from Urdang Academy of Performing Arts, Covent Garden, London. Arriving in Hong Kong in 1993 to dance, she spent the next 12 years as a very busy, successful model. Claire’s a popular, talented, rare jewel who, since joining us in 2005, still can’t decide which dance style is her favourite, Ballet or Tap!

Sorrel is a highly qualified ARAD Ballet Teacher trained at Central School of Ballet, London Studio Centre and at the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) London. Since gaining her Professional Dancers’ Teaching Diploma at the RAD in 2003, she then went on to dance professionally with various ballet companies including the English National Ballet, City Ballet of London, and the Scottish Ballet, ultimately becoming the White Cat in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Cats”, in the West End.

In addition to being Daisy's mum, we are delighted to introduce Sorrel as an imaginative and creative teacher who is simply excited by training children and adults, and getting hold of feet!

With 5 Associates from the ISTD, Lucy is our most versatile qualified teacher. Trained in her hometown of Preston, Lancashire, England (coincidentally Anne-Marie’s hometown too) they actually met each other in Athens, Greece – long story! Since joining the Island Dance team in 2001, Lucy has found a totally new teaching passion through our special needs program. Lucy is a natural, down-to-earth diamond in our school –one that we all cherish!

Emma Rothe is our resident Cover Teacher, slotting in at the last minute when and if we need a cover teacher. Miss Emma has been with Island Dance in many roles since 2000. Starting out as a full time teacher, launching our special needs programme, as a talented innovative choreographer and more recently Stage Manager for our Annual Shows. Now mum to Noah and Asha, Emma enjoys being able to teach with Island Dance Team on a freelance basis and continue dancing on stage professionally too. Students and staff of Island Dance are blessed to be able to call on Emma, who is a multi-talented ISTD professional, well qualified to teach all grades of Ballet, Tap, Freestyle, technique and Disco when we need her.

Having 3 girls studying Freestyle Dance with Island Dance over the last 14 years, no-one is more qualified to answer enquiries and to organise our events! Madhu (and Sanjiv) happen to have been blessed with beautiful, talented dancing daughters, with a magnetic flair for stage performance. This gives Madhu extra energy for her job. She cares about every aspect of Island Dance, every single sparkle ... and as a Cantonese speaker with ‘efficiency’ as her middle name, we’re blessed too!

Jerri blends a creative soul with an organised mind and a philanthropic spirit. Jerri is active in community activities and has coordinated large volunteer groups to produce very successful fund-raising events, fairs and musicals. She's graced the Hong Kong stage with Witness Productions, Hong Kong Players and Kassia Women's Choir. She does her magic behind the scenes as well since she also organises the programs, costumes and publicity, amongst many other things, since musical theatre is her passion. Married for 25 years to Paul, they have 2 teenaged children, Kyra and Tyler. Jerri, also known as the Queen of Everything, is delighted to join Island Dance to coordinate events and communications with parents and students.

With her youthful face, it is hard to believe that Natasha has been married to Gareth for 9 years and together have 2 beautiful little girls. You may see Natasha with her girls at classes or dashing from place to place combining motherhood with work. We all benefit from Natasha’s calm influence as she breezes into the office each day to ensure all accounts for our 1000+ students are perfectly balanced. With Natasha’s talent for all things technical and numerical, her passion for detail & being super-organised, you can imagine just how valuable she’s become to us creative souls! Since joining Island Dance at the beginning of 2008, Natasha has quickly settled into her role in our busy office.
